The knowledge we gain from books and formal education enables us to learn about things that we have no opportunity to experience in daily life. We can study all the places in the world and learn from people we will never meet in our lifetime, just by reading about them in books. We can also develop our analytical skills and learn how to view and interpret the world around us in different ways. Furthermore, we can learn from the past by reading books. In this way, we won’t repeat the mistakes of others and can build on their achievements.
Practical experience, on the other hand, can give us more useful knowledge. It is said that one learns best by doing, and I believe that this is true, whether one is successful or not. In fact, I think making mistakes is the best way to learn. Moreover, if one wants to make new advances, it is necessary to act. Innovations do not come about through reading but through experimentation. Finally, one can apply the skills and insights gained through the study of books to practical experience, making an already meaningful experience more meaningful. However, unless it is applied to real experiences, book knowledge remains theoretical and, in the end, is useless. 上周，是我們學校的第二屆英語活動周。在這一周里，英語活動內容可謂是豐富多彩：手抄報比賽、指手畫腳猜單詞、書寫比賽等大大激發了我們學英語、用英語的興趣。可令我最難忘的要數周五下午的游園活動了。
中午吃完飯，老師們把精心準備的各種道具準備好后，游園活動就開始了。同學們個個興奮不已，笑嘻嘻地穿梭于各個教室。剎那間，整幢教學樓變成了歡樂的海洋。
聽說“希臘”（403班）的“點蠟燭”好玩又簡單，我便和好朋友金宇虹手拉手一起去碰碰運氣。一到那兒，一條“長龍”即映入眼簾，看來這個項目很受同學們的歡迎。我們隨著人流走進了龍尾行列。慢慢地，我們進入了龍頭的行列。我伸頭前望，只見一個瘦小的女孩一下子就點燃了三根蠟燭而順利通關了。“這個游戲的確挺簡單的.嘛！通關對于我來說應該不成問題。”于是，我信心十足地站在隊中，不時向前移動著腳步。就在快輪到我時，一種莫名的擔憂涌上心頭：萬一我動作慢了燒到手怎么辦？同學們會不會笑話我呀？“快，輪到你了。”金宇虹對我說。我猛地回過神來，接過火柴，閃亮登場。“哧——”火柴擦著了，我急忙將火柴移向蠟燭。可是這火苗像故意跟我作對似的，東躲西藏，就是不和燭芯親熱。無奈，最后以失敗而告終。我定了定神，又擦燃了第二根。這次我吸取教訓，放慢了速度。誰知，這“熊熊大火”還沒等到我移向蠟燭已經親吻了我的手指，我只好大叫著將它扔到了地上。此刻，我狼狽極了，但為了尊嚴故作鎮定。我又擦燃了第三根、第四根……時間到了，最終我只點燃了一支蠟燭！看來，不論何時都不能輕信別人的話，只有親身下河才能知深淺，只有親口嘗梨才能之酸甜吶！
離開那傷心地，我來到了“西班牙斗牛場”（自己班教室），爭取在這里找回點自信。瞧，賽場上那些瘦骨嶙峋的“牛”一下子就被那些膘肥體壯的“牛”撞出圈外，直接淘汰出局。此時，我暗下決心：只能成功，不許失敗！
因為這里排隊的人不多，所以很快就輪到我了。看到對手，我不由得松了一口氣，因為跟我斗的是503班的一頭瘦弱的“小牛”。我們的決斗一開始他就向我發起猛攻。他的腿真硬啊，撞在我的腿上猶如硬石砸落下來。我不甘示弱，雙手牢牢地抱著腳，謹慎地周旋著，一旦抓住時機就兇猛地進行反擊，非要和他拼個你死我活不可！慢慢地，他支持不住了，只好向我投降。“嗚呼，我贏了！”我開心地大叫起來。同時，我也悟出了一個道理：在“戰場”上，要智取，不可蠻斗。
后來，我又去玩了“跳麻袋”、“金字塔”、“踢足球”每項活動都很好玩，都帶給了我不同的體驗。
這次的游園活動令我終生難忘，因為我們在玩游戲的同時學到了不少知識，也懂得了不少道理！
